One of the many benefits of renting a vacation home over booking a hotel room, especially for families, is that with a vacation rental you'll get more bang for your buck — a rental home will almost always give you more space at a lower price than a hotel room. And it will typically come with a fully-equipped kitchen, large refrigerator, a sink and lots of storage space. This is especially nice if you don't want to dine out for all of your meals during your stay, which can get rather expensive. Plus, cooking is fun for many of us if you have the right equipment, high quality pots and pans and knives that don't suck.
One of the first things you're going to want to do when arriving in town, or even beforehand, is to go to the local grocery store and stock up for the week, or weekend, depending on your stay. If it's the former, and you have multiple people staying with you, and you're planning on cooking at home at least some of the time, this will probably turn into a massive grocery run. You're going to want to get that shopping task out of the way as soon as possible and make sure you have all the necessities you need (beer, wine, etc.), so you can get down to the beach to enjoy the surf and the sand and not have to worry about it for the rest of your stay.
Let's face it: this is the least favorite part of your trip. Especially if you're unfamiliar with the area, feeling tired from the drive to the coast, running late to begin with, or just can't face the thought of chasing the kiddos around the store and getting stuck in a long line behind that person with all the coupons and a check book.
Well guess what? You don't have to. Safeway delivers, and it's a huge time saver.
You just need to go to http://grocery-delivery.safeway.com to make sure they provide home delivery to your location, register online and start shopping. Pretty much everything you would buy in-store is available online. The only real exception to this is the hot food you might pick up in the deli area, which doesn't transport well.
A $49 minimum purchase amount (excluding applicable tax, delivery fee, fuel surcharge, bottle deposits and bag fees where applicable) is required to process and deliver your order. Your first delivery is FREE – just enter Promo Code: EASY7 at checkout.
After that, in most areas you'll pay a $9.95 delivery charge on purchases of $150 or more or $12.95 on purchases under $150 (excluding all the aforementioned fees).
You don't need to have a Safeway Club Card to order online, but if you do have one you'll receive all the usual discounts you'd get in-store (including those six-packs of wine) along with any special promotions offered at the time. So if you don't already have a Club Card, you might want to consider getting one if you shop there regularly.
Once you're ready to check out, pay online and select a convenient delivery day and time slot (1, 2 or 4-hour windows are available) and that's it! Someone 18 years or older needs to be present at the location upon delivery. If you are including alcohol in your order, someone over the age of 21 must be present to accept and sign for the delivery.
